Aidan Quinn

A cancer biologist building AI tools that help scientists get from data to discovery faster.

I spent more than a decade in cancer research — clinical trials at Mount Sinai, a PhD at Columbia, a postdoc at Dana-Farber and Harvard Medical School. Now I work where machine learning meets biology: designing AI research platforms and functional genomics screens, and turning what they reveal into decisions scientists and companies can act on.

About

Trained at the bench, now building AI for it.

My path into science started in the clinic. At Mount Sinai I built the research databases behind prospective cancer trials, including a Phase I/II study of ultrasound-guided prostate brachytherapy — an early lesson in how much good decisions depend on well-organised data.

I went on to a PhD in Pathobiology & Molecular Medicine at Columbia, studying how chromatin regulators control blood stem cells. We showed that losing PHF6 boosts stem cell self-renewal and helps drive leukemia, and that deleting it restores youthful features to aged blood stem cells in mice. As a postdoc in the Kadoch Lab at Dana-Farber and Harvard Medical School, I invented an AI-guided base-editing screen that maps how individual mutations in the PBAF chromatin remodeler shape kidney cancer.

Today I lead the science behind a full-stack AI co-scientist platform at Academia Inc. I do my best work where biology, machine learning and strategy meet: translating what models can do into workflows scientists trust, and research into choices a company can make.

Work

Résumé

Experience

  • 2025 — present(current role)

    Strategy Consultant, AI Bioinformatics

Academia Inc. · San Francisco, CA

Lead the scientific strategy for a full-stack AI co-scientist platform, working directly with the CEO on product direction and investment. Conceived and launched LLM-powered research tools, including AI Paper Finder and AI Grant Finder, and act as the bridge that turns model capabilities into workflows researchers actually use.

  • 2022 — 2025

    Postdoctoral Fellow, Kadoch Lab

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School · Boston, MA

Invented an AI-guided base-editing screening platform with single-cell readouts that classifies mutations in the PBAF chromatin-remodeling complex and maps how its structure drives function in kidney cancer. Built a biosample acquisition program connecting lab scientists with clinicians, and led a team of scientists and students through high-risk, open-ended projects.

  • 2024 — 2025

    Strategic Advisor, The Incubator

Harvard Biotech Club, Harvard Medical School · Boston, MA

Six-month advisory engagement with a preclinical CNS therapeutics company ahead of its Series A. Ran technical and clinical diligence, consulted leading pharmacology experts, and built the competitive landscape, market model and target product profile behind an indication strategy the CEO took to the company’s Scientific Advisory Board.

  • 2012 — 2014

    Clinical Research Associate

Mount Sinai Medical Center · New York, NY

Designed and deployed a multi-department clinical research database, and coordinated data collection and analysis for investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored trials, including Phase I/II studies of image-guided prostate brachytherapy.
